Career Prep Schools
Career prep flight schools offer certifications that range from private pilot certifications all the way to commercial pilot certifications. Many schools will also have connections with large airlines which can help you find a job after you complete your desired certification.
Apart from becoming a pilot, you can also explore a range of other careers like aircraft maintenance, flight attendant, and instructor roles. There are large private schools that offer these commercial programs as well as four year universities and 2 year technical colleges.

Recreational Flight Schools
Private pilot schools can teach you how to fly a plane for recreational use or professional use. Their certifications can even go up till instructor rating, giving you the qualifications to teach other student pilots. With their more certifications, you can fly your own plane in as little as a year.
In order to teach other students or offer professional services like airplane tours, it can take slightly longer. There is a huge selection of these smaller schools to choose from, with choices across all major cities of the United States.

Helicopter Schools
Helicopter schools are a different kind of aviation school and specifically cater to students looking to learn how to fly a helicopter. A helicopter flight certification can offer many unique career options. While the job market for helicopter pilots isn’t as expansive as it is for your average plane pilot, the number of available pilots that can fly a helicopter is much lower putting them at a major advantage in the job market.
Some of our guides include helicopter schools but the lower number of schools that offer this specialty means less available options if you’re not in a major area of the United States.
